Crow Bill Breathing

The Breathing Trick That Keeps You Cool This Summer

The Fast & Easy Way to Cool Down

This summer promises to be a warm one, with one major heatwave already breaking records, and many more to come.

Better load up on ice cold drinks, take a dive in the swimming pool, and check for air conditioning.

Or... you teach yourself this breathing technique to cool down.

At any time, at any place.

It's called Crow Bill's Breathing, because you shape your mouth like the bill of a crow.

Mother Nature Knows Best

This breathing technique finds, like so many good things, its inspiration in nature.

If you look at the animal kingdom, all animals have a way to deal with excessive heat, e.g. dogs panting to cool down.

Since dogs (and other animals) can't hook up air conditioning or a fan, they have to use their body.

So, why not get inspired by nature, and see what we can do with our own bodies to get some relief from the sun!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Sit comfortably in a comfortable position.
  2. Close your eyes and relax the body by doing a few cycles of 1:2 breathing (extending the exhale to twice the length of the inhale).
  3. Open your eyes and fix your gaze on the tip of your nose.
  4. Purse your lips into a small rounded "O" like a crow's beak. Keep the tongue relaxed.
  5. Inhale slowly and deeply through the pursed lips, drawing the air in like through a narrow tube.
  6. Exhale slowly through the nose, lips closed, releasing heat with each breath.

Repeat for 3–5 minutes (up to 10–12 rounds) or until you feel cooled down enough.

Why Does This Work?

In Crow Bill's Breathing, you inhale through pursed lips.

The air passes over the moist surface of the lips, tongue and the inside of your mouth.

As it moves over the wet mucous membrane, some of the saliva and moisture evaporates.

Here is the clue: evaporation requires heat.

Where does the heat come from?

If you answered "the inside of your mouth", treat yourself to a buttery Danish cookie.

And air moves down into the airway and lungs, it is gently cooled.

It's the same principle as sweat cooling down your skin, with two differences: you can activate it yourself, and it feels cooling and relaxing instead of wet and clammy.

Try it out for yourself!

Become a Champion of Breathing

I would not have been able to set my Guinness World Records & become the first person to hold their breath for over 20 minutes if I wasn't able to achieve flow on command

Over the years, I have trained athletes, business leaders, singers, and many more to do the same.

To make these teaching more accessible, I have condensed my 30+ years of experience into the Breathwork Fundamentals and the Breath Hold Mastery programs.

During this summer, the heat is your friend. The higher the temperature, the higher your discount. Grab yours, before it cools down...
